HOW LONG IS YOUR WAITLIST AND WHAT NUMBER WOULD I BE?
This is the most asked question and the hardest to answer. We don’t assign anyone to a litter, we have a master list and go in the order deposits were received. We don’t hold you to a litter and your deposit can be moved to a different litter at any time. This is why it’s very hard to calculate the number of people on the list, as it is always changing.
Why do we do it this way?
Here are a few reasons:
1. The litter may not produce the color or gender you were looking for. For example, if you wanted a blue merle male and the litter only has red merle females you would be stuck with making a choice you don’t want.
2. If you are on the list for a specific litter and the dog doesn’t have puppies or enough puppies to fulfill the list you would have to wait until that dog can be bred again.
So how does our waitlist work?
Everyone is kept on a master list, this holds your place in line. We then do a breakdown list where we put people who want a specific size, color and or breed. You can be on all of these lists or just one.
As puppies are born I will start going down the master list and confirming our breakdown list. I will send out an email asking if you want to be assigned to a litter (s) and then we will confirm that the date puppies are ready to go home works within your schedule. I will also ask if you are ok with either sex or you are specific about wanting only a female or male. I ask that you respond in a timely manner, 48 hrs or less. I will be contacting several people and need to be able to move down the list.
Please note that just because you agree to a litter it doesn’t mean you will have to take a puppy from that litter. You can roll your deposit to another if we reach the selection process and the right puppy isn’t available for you. You are never stuck on a litter.
Please read our page about puppy selection and how that process works!
Because I don’t know whether the people who have deposits sent in before you will pass or take a pup from a litter until they are born, it’s impossible to know “WHEN” you’ll get a pup. What I CAN say is:
1. It’s not unusual to go through 35 people when placing so you could be #36 on a list and still be offered a puppy.
2. We have litters often and lots of variety. There is generally plenty of selection and the wait is not usually more than 6 months. This can depend on you as well and how much of a criteria you have.
3. Over ½ of the people on each breakdown list are the SAME people. To further explain, we could have 30 people on the breakdown list for small mini Aussiedoodles and 15 of those same people on the breakdown list for larger Aussiedoodles.
We have been raising pups for 15 years and have tried several different ways to manage our waitlist. This has been by far the best way to ensure you are getting the right puppy for your family. We look forward to working with you and helping you through the process of finding your next best friend.
